ASKARA – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) stated that the Nusantara Vaccine, which was initiated by the former Minister of Health, Terawan Agus Putranto, could not be commercialized or traded, so it could not be mass produced.
The reason is that Nusantara Vaccines are autologous or individual.
“Dendritic cells are autologous. That is, the material used is from ourselves and for ourselves, so it cannot be used for others. So, the product can only be used for the patient himself,” said Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, in his statement last Sunday (29/8).
Regarding this matter, the former Minister of Health, Siti Fadilah Supari, denied it. In Siti Fadilah’s view, the Nusantara Vaccine can be mass produced.
“You can, with technology. The technology is disseminated to many people. That’s what Dr. Terawan said,” he said, while talking to Rahma Sarita on the Reality TV YouTube Chanel with the title SITI FADILAH SUPARI: “NUSANTARA VACCINES CAN’T BE MASSIVELY PRODUCED? THAT IS NOT TRUE!” quoted on Saturday (4/9).
Previously, the Ministry of Health stated that dendritic cell-based health services or in other words the Nusantara Vaccine were only used for patients themselves, so they could not be commercialized and no marketing authorization was required.
“It’s good, it means that it is allowed to circulate. Indeed, the dentritic cells are not mass produced, what is mass produced is the technology or the equipment,” said Siti Fadilah.
Rahma Sarita, then asked the cost so that someone could be injected with the Nusatara Vaccine. Information circulating to get the Nusantara Vaccine must cost Rp 5 million.
“I’ve never heard of it. But if I ask Mr. Terawan, it’s free. Even until the third phase of clinical trials in about October, hopefully it can start, it’s completely free,” said Siti Fadilah.
The third phase of Nusantara Vaccine Clinical Trial, Siti Fadilah added, said it needed 1,500 volunteers.
“But it seems that more than 10 thousand have registered. There are so many who have registered because it’s safe, and the virus doesn’t enter our bodies. We put in our own dentritic cells,” he said.
