Kogler: “It is our responsibility to fight sexual violence”

The independent contact and advice center VERA, which goes back to a resolution proposed by the National Council last year, is intended to offer psychological and legal support to those who turn to it. In addition, they also want to offer workshops and similar measures to help raise awareness. Behind VERA are the two associations “Vertrauensstelle” for the cultural sector and “100% Sport” for the sports sector.

Culture and sport should actually be spaces that stand for social cohesion, stressed the Green Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, who is the minister in charge, in a broadcast: “Again and again, courageous women in particular speak up and say that here, too, men abuse their power, sexually become abusive and violent. It is our responsibility to resolutely combat sexual violence.”
