Man assaults vaccination staff in Germany

A man injured two staff members at a coronavirus vaccination center in eastern Germany on Saturday after they denied him a vaccination certificate that he demanded without having inoculated.

The German news agency dpa reported that the individual, whose identity was not disclosed due to national privacy rules, attacked and injured a nurse and an assistant during a vaccination event in Gera, a city in eastern Germany.

Police said the man approached the mobile vaccination center team, refused to receive the injection and became violent when he did not receive a certificate.

The two attacked, who were also not identified by name, had to be treated in a hospital, but were later discharged. Police later detained the attacker in a nearby parking lot.

His identity was known to the police because he had registered to get vaccinated in advance, the dpa reported. The man was slightly injured in the attack.
