Madrid, world epicenter of urban sports

The capital of Spain will host Madrid Urban Sports from October 8 to 10, a multisport and cultural event that will host the best national and international athletes from various urban sports such as BMX, skate, scooter, roller freestyle, breaking dance o básquet 3×3.

Various stages and spaces will be distributed along the banks of the Manzanares River in which each competition and urban performances will be the protagonists. As a whole, about 5,000 or 6,000 attendees may attend for free, depending on the organization.

The presentation was attended by the Councilor for Sports of the Madrid City Council, Sofia Miranda, the director of the organization, Victor Casanovas, and the Spanish Olympic skateboarding athlete, Danny Leon, along with various figures from the local scene. “This event will allow taking these sports to a mass audience, that the stars identify themselves as the future claim for the new generations”Casanovas noted.

Sofía Miranda, who stated at the event that both BMX and skateboarding will have a municipal school in the city soon, was “very happy” for their celebration. “Big events are meaningless if they are not linked to the promotion of grassroots sports so that more boys and girls can practice sports and become future stars”, he stressed.
