Dominik Egli, city parliamentarian SVP Wil, has had enough of the sentence that Switzerland will stop after Winterthur. He wants to set an exclamation mark with Wil West and show that we are a strong economic and living region. Below are his thoughts.

Dominik Egli, city parliamentarian SVP Wil, has had enough of the sentence that Switzerland will stop after Winterthur.
“The future is with us”. As a representative of the young generation from the Wil region, I recognize myself in this claim of the Wil West flagship project. It expresses a new self-confidence and self-image in our region: This is where the music plays, here there are exciting jobs and here something really big is being created.
Although we give a lot of land to Wil West, we also get a lot in return: An attractive perspective for the future, the urgently needed traffic relief for our city and an important contribution against urban sprawl.
The loss of land is an emotional issue, including for me. But I’ll try a factual reading: The crop rotation areas, i.e. the valuable farmland, must be compensated because the law wants it that way. This means that the high-quality soil is removed and areas outside the area are upgraded to cultivated areas.
Years ago, the 23 communities in the Wil region agreed to forgo zoning for new companies in favor of central development in Wil West. Another fact. So we use land on the Wil West site, which is ideally located on the motorway and two railway lines. In return, areas in the other communities will be retained. This is what modern spatial planning demands and this renunciation by the communities is an impressive achievement that should also please ecological circles.
If you haven’t already done so, vote YES to the special loan for the Wil West area development. So that Switzerland doesn’t stop after Winterthur in the future.”
