ICAN makes a request to Japan

ICAN Executive Director Beatrice Finn sent a video message to the Gensui Kyokai meeting in Hiroshima on the 6th.
The Hiroshima Conference of the World Conference Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs affiliated with the Japan Council Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs (Gensuikyo) and the Japanese National Council Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs (Gensuikin) reached their final day on the 6th. At the Gensui Kyokai meeting, Beatrice Finn, Executive Director of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), delivered a video message saying, “Japan must be the leader of the global movement to abolish nuclear weapons.”
Mr. Finn called for Japan to join the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, saying, “The Japanese government should know more than any other country the consequences of nuclear weapons.” He criticized, “The Japanese government is content to live under the US “nuclear umbrella”.
