Karlsruher SC annoys Jürgen Klopps FC Liverpool – but still loses
The game is also the official opening of the KSC Stadium. Liverpool FC is currently preparing for the new Premier League season in Donaueschingen. Next Monday (July 24th), the 2019 Champions League winner will play another friendly against second division side SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
Darwin Núñez (3rd) gives the visitors from England an early lead. KSC returnee Lars Stindl (39th) equalizes in the closing stages of the first half with a long-range shot that is well worth seeing. “It’s a very nice feeling to be at home and with the boys in the club – that’s fun!” says Stindl in an interview with HEIDELBERG24 at the start of the preparations. The 34-year-old returned to his heart club from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer.
Stadium opening in Karlsruhe: Liverpool FC wins at KSC shortly before the end
After the change of sides, a lot is changed at Liverpool FC. LFC coach Klopp brings, among other things, newcomer Alexis Mac Allister, who came from league competitor Brighton. At the beginning of the second half, the Reds are caught off guard: KSC right-back Sebastian Jung (48th) scores for the KSC lead.

Substitute Cody Gakpo (69th) makes it 2-2. The hosts throw everything forward again in the final phase, but the goals come from the other side: Diogo Jota (90th) scored the 2:4 final score with a brace shortly before the final whistle. On Saturday (July 24th) the Badeners will play against Darmstadt 98 in their general dress for the start of the league. On the first matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga on July 29th, KSC will visit newly promoted VfL Osnabrück. (nwo)
