Investing in more content will increase interest in Apple TV Plus

Although it has been almost two years since Apple TV Plus was launched, interest in the service is still low, especially compared to competitors such as Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video.

According to a new report from The Information Apple TV Plus currently has just over 40 million subscribers, about half of whom are paying customers. The rest use Apple’s free campaign in connection with the purchase of new gadgets.

In order to attract more subscribers, Apple will make sure to increase the range significantly in 2022. The idea is that there will be something new to watch every week, something that has been a bit so and so during the ongoing pandemic.

An interesting detail in The Information’s article is that Apple was considering launching a cheaper model of the Apple TV hardware that could compete with Chromecast. The plans, however, were thwarted when Greg Joswiak and Phil Schiller considered it more important to protect the brand than to venture into the low-cost jungle.
