It is an equipment awaited by the people of Niort and the inhabitants of the sector: the Pre-Leroy swimming pool has been rehabilitated and is finally reopening to the public after 36 months of work. Re-opening in two stages. First the indoor pool on Monday, November 15 then the Nordic basin, outside, a priori on Monday, December 13. The construction site had been delayed, in particular because of the consequences of the health crisis.
The main novelties
- The transformation of the outdoor pool into Nordic pool of 50 meters heated (27°) and open all year round. Two movable walls are installed, making it possible to modulate the spaces and accommodate different audiences at the same time.
- Adding a movable floor in the inner basin of 25 meters (28°) which makes it possible to vary the depth from two meters to a few centimeters for learning to swim or practicing other activities such as aquagym.
- The creation of a wading pool covered and transformation of the outdoor paddling pool into a water jet area
- The creation of a solarium on the terrace with a 180° view
“We can be very happy to have maintained such equipment in the heart of the city. It’s a very transparent, pleasant place”, rejoices Jérôme Baloge, the mayor of Niort and president of the agglomeration. But also “attractive” with in particular the Nordic pool of 50 meters “which is still quite rare in the region”. This pool will be equipped with a drowning detection and prevention system and LED lights so swimmers can monitor their pace and performance in real time.
Maximum attendance will be 900 people simultaneously. Both pools are also approved by the French Swimming Federation for competitions. Equipment for the preparation of the Paris 2024 Olympics? Niort agglo has joined the official list of preparation centers for the Games. “Why not training or preparations. We can have hopes but nothing is decided. In any case Pré-Leroy is ready”, says Jérôme Baloge.
A project of 18.7 million euros excluding tax. The prices entrance fees which had not increased since 2017 were aligned with those of the Chauray aquatic centre. More details and timetables on the website of Niort Agglo.
