Ecologically. Regional. Sustainable: This is the motto of the first Hessian BioTage from September 10th to 19th.

With a new name, the days of action will take place across Hesse for the first time and invite you to experience the diverse range of organic and regional products with all your senses. Producers and processors open the gates of their businesses to the public and show what organic farming means in practice and how regional foods are made.

Events all over Hessen

A colorful and diverse program of events awaits visitors, inviting them to participate. From a day on the farm to cooking and baking workshops to cycling tours, there is a lot of variety on offer for young and old. For example, visitors can not only see what species-appropriate animal husbandry looks like or how cheese is made from milk. The Hessian BioTage also offers the opportunity to ask farmers directly questions that concern you as a consumer. The complete program of events is available at https://www.oekomodellregionen-hessen.de/veranstaltungen/hessische-biotage retrievable.

South Hesse with seven events

In the eco-model region south, which includes the Darmstadt-Dieburg, Bergstrasse and Odenwald districts as well as the Groß-Gerau district and the city of Darmstadt, the Berger nursery in Beerfelden is starting an eight-day campaign on September 10th. Visitors to Babenhausen can go behind the scenes of an organic farm: The Rottstedt organic farm invites you to a guided tour of its Kurogehnen farm, dates are planned for September 11th, 15th and 19th.

There is also a guided tour in the Hoxhohl vegetable garden in Modautal – from A for Asian salad to Z for sugar loaf there is a wide variety in Vivian Glover’s market garden. Organic wines from the Hessian Bergstrasse can be tasted in an online wine tasting on September 12th and 19th. The package is available in advance from Bergstrasse Medifact Edition Verlag. On September 17th, we go to the field. The solidarity agriculture in Rüsselsheim, the “Bio SoLaWi Auf dem Acker eV”, invites you here.

The bread oven at Hofgut Oberfeld will be heated up on September 18th to participate. There is a workshop on bread here. Anyone can take part, the ingredients are brought along or provided for spontaneous people. And last but not least, there is every reason to celebrate in Mossautal, because the Hof am Mühlgrund is celebrating its third birthday, and organic farmer Alexander Kern invites you to the farm festival.

Hessian Bio Days – take part, discover the region and win

For the premiere of the Hessian BioTage 2021, the eco-model regions are holding a Facebook competition under the umbrella of the eco-model state of Hesse. It starts on September 10th https://www.facebook.com/oekomodelllandhessen.

About the eco-model regions

The Hessian model regions are looking for ways to meet the increasing demand for organically produced food more from local agriculture and to raise consumer awareness of regional cycles and organically produced food. They are part of the Hessian eco-action plan and are the point of contact for farmers, regional producers, processors and retailers.
