“Get vaccinated!” proclaim the federal leaders in a video

They announced it last week, now here it is on your screens: Federal party leaders united in a video to encourage the still hesitant 15% of Canadians to finally receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Filmed at the Sheraton Gatineau Hotel ahead of Thursday’s English debate, the video begins with the five guest chefs tossing out “we’re all together!” Before moving on to short individual segments.

“We have come a long way together, it’s time to end this pandemic for good,” says Justin Trudeau, first to speak in this short extract of just over a minute.

“Vaccines are safe and effective, and vaccines are a very important tool in our fight against COVID-19,” said Conservative leader Erin O’Toole.

Chiefs are asking Canadians to convince a loved one or acquaintance to finally move forward with the vaccination.

“To protect yourselves, to protect the most vulnerable among us, to protect the entire population, the best known means remains the vaccine. Please, be responsible, show solidarity, get vaccinated, ”said Yves-François Blanchet, leader of the Bloc Québécois.

The idea came from NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, who asked his counterparts to take part in the exercise in a letter sent last weekend.

“We all agree, it’s not a partisan issue if we need to be vaccinated. So please get vaccinated, ”Singh pleads.

“It saves lives, this is how we will finally defeat COVID, now is the time to get vaccinated,” says Green Party leader Annamie Paul.
