Velbert Against Alemannia Aachen, KFC Uerdingen was able to achieve its first point win of the current season in the Regionalliga West: it was 0-0 after 90 minutes in front of almost 1,500 spectators in Velbert.
The KFC Uerdingen can look forward to the first point in the regional league season. It was 0-0 at the end of the 90 minutes in the home game against Alemannia Aachen. It was a typical 0-0 game between two teams, both of whom are in the table cellar. Neither team offered the 1491 spectators in Velbert any football delicacies.
After the 2: 8 at 1. FC Köln’s U21s a week ago, the Uerdinger had to deal with another blow in the neck during the week. Because of the bankruptcy of the club, the West German Football Association withdrew nine points from the club. However, the decision is not yet final, the association wants to exhaust all legal remedies.
“We cannot influence the latter,” coach Dmitry Voronov said during the week. He met the former with the use of the two newly signed defenders. Jesse Sierck played as central defender and Pepijin Schlösser made his debut for blue-red on the right defensive. The game itself started a few minutes late because the Aacheners were stuck in a traffic jam when they arrived. “It sounds familiar to me,” laughed Uerdingen’s sports director Patrick Schneider – on the one hand thinking about the delay of his own bus, but also laughing because he was celebrating his 45th birthday.
In the first 45 minutes, the Uerdingen played very patiently, using the stability they had gained on the defensive through the two new signings. Little went forward when one or the other ball was tripped. Real chances to score were scarce – on both sides.
That changed at the beginning of the second half when the Uerdinger Sturmspiel was enlivened by the substitution of young Justin Neiß and Tom Fladung. However, there was still no countable result.
