Messel (ots) –
After a building and a caravan in the Messel district, near the Darmstadt-Dieburg railway line, burned late on Sunday evening (December 5th) (we reported), officers from Detective Office 10 in Darmstadt took over the further investigations.
In this context, the scene of the fire was examined by the investigators on Monday afternoon (December 6th). In the course of the investigation, the police were able to rule out that people were harmed in the fire. At this point in time, it is believed that the fire was deliberately set in the area of the house and in the trailer. Reliable information on the amount of damage cannot be made based on the current state of knowledge.
As part of the police measures, the officers discovered a parked vehicle, which apparently had broken down, in the vicinity of the scene of the incident, in Roßdörfer Strasse, shortly after the fire started. Here the law enforcement officers came across the remains of fire accelerators. Whether an attempt was made to damage the white Volkswagen with fire and whether this incident is related to the house and caravan fire must be checked as part of the investigation.
Against this background, the investigators are looking for witnesses who have made suspicious observations or who can provide other relevant information. They can be reached under the number 06151 / 969-0.
