Film – Wieck a. Darß:German Nature Film Prize awarded in two main categories

Wieck am Darß (dpa / mv) – The films “The Secret Life of the Red Deer” by Axel Gebauer and “The Odyssey of the Great Bustards” by Henry Mix and Boas Schwarz have won the German Nature Film Award. A total of twelve films were nominated in this year’s competition, according to a message from the German Nature Film Foundation. The nature film award, which has been awarded since 2008, is endowed with 10,000 euros each. The jury this year included the science journalist and TV presenter Eckart von Hirschhausen.

The jury also honored the production team of the UFA Show & Factual for the film “Expedition Arctic – One year. A ship. In the ice.”, The biologist and filmmaker Sebastian Koerner for his film “Die Wolfsaga – 20 Jahre.” Wolves in Germany “, as well as the biologists Georg Rüppell and his wife Dagmar Hilfert-Rüppell for their life’s work.

According to its own statement, by honoring filmmakers, the foundation wants to make the nature film genre more accessible for makers, broadcasters, the public, but also for nature conservation and politics.
