Mr. Eiyoshi Otani, former director of TV Asahi’s “Legendary Frontier” who accompanies the location, has been visiting the Himalayas for many years with the desire to “protect the lives and future of children.” Together with his colleagues, he also launched the Dolpo Foundation. He recruits children who want to study regularly and sends them to schools in Kathmandu, the capital, to develop the next generation of leaders.

One of them is Mr. Sonam Doma from Tingyu village. For this location, she brought along a video letter of her life for her mother, who would like to know how her daughter, who has been in Japan for three years, is doing.
However, the mother is absent due to various reasons. I asked her grandma to watch the video letter. When the VTR played, the grandmother said, “Thank you so much to all of you,” seeing her grandchild’s energetic appearance for the first time in a long time, and shedding large tears.
After graduating from university, Sonam Doma said that she would like to return to Nepal and work in international relations. “Nepal is harder to live in than Japan and not beautiful, so we want to keep studying and work for Nepal someday,” she said of the future.
“Don’t worry, I’m doing my best,” said Sonam Doma at the end. Mr. Otani also showed a deeply moved expression, perhaps because he was happy with her growth.
