Competitor for Bernat: PSG welcomes the latest addition – FUSSBALL INTERNATIONAL

Just before the international break, Lionel Messi (34) made his first competitive game for PSG. The six-time world footballer made his debut against Stade Reims.

This is still to come for Nuno Mendes (19). The young left-back also moved to the top Paris club this summer. On Thursday, PSG welcomed the last newcomer from the previous transfer window to the “Camp des Loges” training ground for the first time.

Mendes joined Paris on loan from Sporting Lisbon on the last day of the transfer window. He initially signed until the end of the season.

Nuno Mendes is considered to be one of the greatest defensive talents in the world. At the age of nine, he moved to the Lisbon Academy for Young Adults. At the age of 17 he made his professional debut in June 2020 and within a very short time gained a regular place in the Rúben Amorim team.

In the past season he was used in 29 games – each time he was in the starting line-up.

The rental fee alone should be between four and seven million euros, depending on the report. Paris Saint-Germain secured a purchase option that apparently corresponds to its market value of 40 million euros. No defensive player in this age group is loud worth more than the full-back.

Mendes, for whom Pablo Sarabia moved from PSG to Lisbon in return, is already an international. He was also in the squad at the European Championship, but was not used. He has eight appearances for the team of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. During the international break, he was used in all three games. In the friendly against Qatar (1: 3) he was in the starting line-up.

At the Messi club, Nuno Mendes, who is competing with Juan Bernat and Layvin Kurzawa for the regular place on the left-back, will wear jersey number 25 in the coming season.
