Cézac: the renovated municipal library

Nadège Thouard and Nicole Porte in the renovated library

Each year, the municipality of Cézac endeavors to renovate a municipal hall or a classroom in the school.
This year, it is the municipal library located in the house of associations next to the town hall that is getting a facelift, rather new paintings because the green hues at the top and purple at the bottom bring a lot of serenity and calm to the place. The first feedback from readers is positive and many welcome this initiative.

Nadège Thouard, the librarian, supervised the work amounting to 4,700 euros and took the opportunity to reorganize the space devoted to books for young people and childcare. Thus, spaces for novels, comics, documentaries, etc. are now more visible. Nicole Porte, mayor of Cézac, underlines the perfect execution of the works and the success of the municipal library.

More than 9000 works

Created in 1988 in the current premises (the old village cure) under the mandate of Jean Ladoux, the library has nearly 9,000 books to which must be added loans from Biblio Gironde (around 6,000 books in the youth section). More than 300 readers are counted and the twelve classes are welcomed every week. “The library regularly participates in the initiatives of the community of municipalities library network. With school children, this year’s study theme will be travel. At the same time, for the past three years, we have observed a strong demand for adult novelties. You shouldn’t hesitate to give me suggestions, ”says Nadège Thouard.

New schedules

Finally, the opening hours of the library are modified from the beginning of the school year: Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registrations are free for all.
