Brand new Orange international Devyne Rensch: ‘Then my heart started beating faster’ | Football

“That he can be your trainer at the big Orange and that he lets you make your debut, that’s great. I think everyone had to get used to him, because he was new to many. But I think he’s a really good trainer. He’s always honest, that’s the most important thing.”

“It was a day never to be forgotten. The debut for the big Orange, no one can take that away from me,” said Rensch at Ajax TV. “At one point Danny Blind said to me that I could warm up. Then I thought it might be there after all. I got in after two minutes. Then my heart started beating a little faster.”

The young defender looks back on the 6-1 World Cup qualifier against the Turks with a great feeling. „My debut, a victory and that also in the Johan Cruijff Arena. My day couldn’t be better.”

„In the locker room, a proud Rensch thanked his teammates afterwards. “They are cool guys. I thanked them all. They welcomed me with open arms, I immediately felt at home.”

Despite his Orange debut, Rensch knows that there is still a lot of work to be done and he hopes to continue at Ajax now. After all, he is not yet a basic player for the team from Amsterdam. “My start this season was not very good. Due to injuries I didn’t have a good preparation, but luckily I’m fit now. Hopefully I can get minutes again soon.”
