The star of the Brooklyn Nets, Ben Simmons, was focused on being part of the Australian team that competes in the 2023 Basketball World Cup.
The information was released by ESPN journalist Brian Windhorst, who explained that the treatment Simmons took to solve his back problems is working quite well.
The base has not played with the Australian team since 2013, shortly after being chosen as number 1 in the NBA Draft.
His last participation in an international competition was in the Oceania Cup, in which he did not have a leading role due to his youth and little experience on the small boards.

Despite that, he had a step in the Under-17 team with which he was runner-up in the world behind the United States.
Despite entering the shortlist, Simmons comes from recording his worst season in the NBA, as he has an average of 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists in the 42 games he was able to play before the problems with back.
“I think that he is recovering mentally and that he is getting in shape to be ready for the World Cup. There were a number of unfortunate circumstances that prevented him from being at the Olympic Games, but I think this time he will be available,” said national coach Brian Goorjian.
Australia is part of Group E and will face Germany, Finland and Japan. Their debut is scheduled for August 25 and they will seek to overcome their last World Cup by reaching the semifinals.
