From September 1, 2023 (Friday), V Synext “Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger 20th Unforgiven Abare” will finally start screening for a limited time. On August 31st (Thursday), the day before that, a pre-screening with stage greetings was held at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo. On the stage are Koichiro Nishi, who plays the role of Abare Red/Ryōga Hakua, Sho Tomita, who plays the role of Yukihito Sanjo, who plays Abare Blue, Kaoru Abe, who plays the role of Abare Black/Asuka, Kotaro Tanaka, who plays the role of Abare Killer/Mikoto Nakadai, and Emiri Sanjo. In addition to the regular cast including Michi Nishijima, who plays the role of Aoi Iota, Karen Otomo and director Hisashi Kimura will be on stage. In addition, we will report on the day when a surprise video message arrived from Aiko Ito, who plays the role of Ranru Itsuki/Abare Yellow.
After greeting each of them, Mr. Nishi asked the fans who filled the audience, “Was it fun? Fans responded with a big round of applause. When asked about the reaction to the completion announcement on August 17th (Thursday), “Even those who hadn’t seen (Abaranger) at the time said it was ‘interesting’. Above all, we received an outrageous reaction from the fans. Seeing how full the place is now… it’s amazing,” says Tomita. When Mr. Nishi asked, “What is that?”, Mr. Tomita replied, “Please guess,” and there was a friendly exchange.
Mr. Abe was also asked about his impressions, and Mr. Abe, who was surprised and said, “Is it me!?” While Mr. Nishi said, “It’s early!”
Mr. Tanaka revealed the back side that Mr. Nishi and Director Kimura were actually worried all the time until the completion announcement. “But I was sure that you would enjoy it. I don’t know what! Mr. Otomo, who played an important role in this work, said that the squadron he saw for the first time in his life was Abaranger. “I started doing it when I was about 3 or 4 years old, and everyone in kindergarten watched it. “When I thought, I was in a role that badly said Abaranger…” while talking with a smile. “But I acted in pursuit of Aoi’s own justice,” he proudly said.
To Otomo, the MC gave a killer pass, asking, “Who is your favorite Abaranger?” Mr. Tanaka began to mutter, “Abare killer… Abare killer…”, causing the audience to laugh. Otomo made an unreasonable (?) request, “Here, Tanaka-san kept saying Abare killer…”. A comical exchange continued, such as accusing him of being thrust. As a matter of fact, “(Kindergarten) boys liked red, but girls liked Yukito-san…” says Otomo. There was also a scene where Mr. Tanaka, who saw Mr. Tomita, who raised his hand triumphantly and received a yellow cheer, said, “I should change my job to blue …”.
Mr. Nishijima, who is currently active as a dancer and choreographer, mentioned that he was in charge of the dance choreography in this work as well. “The theory is to make the Sentai dance easy for children, but I aimed to make it a little harder (to shoot the awkward dancing scene)”, revealing the behind-the-scenes story of the production side. In addition, a video message from Mr. Tou was projected on the screen, and he expressed his gratitude to the fans who gathered for the advance screening and expressed his joy at wearing the Abaranger costume for the first time in 20 years.
At the end, all the speakers (Director Kimura participates as Abare Yellow) will show off their transformation! Then, suddenly, Mr. Abe collapsed on the stage, raising his voice, “Wow!” Mr. Tomita, who was taking care of Mr. Abe, Mr. Nishi, Mr. Tanaka, and so on, all collapsed in a chain reaction. To the fans watching what happened, Mr. Nishi said, “I used Dino Guts too much in the movie…! Everyone, please support me so that I can transform into Abaranger!” When the fans who understood the situation shouted “Abaranger!” After everyone decided on a transformation pose, Mr. Abe responded with deep emotion, saying, “The Sky Theater from 20 years ago is back!”
In the final greeting, Mr. Nishi, representing the cast, made a strong comment, “There are still people who don’t know (the screening of this work). Please deliver your dyno guts (impressions)!” I pulled the stage greeting curtain while being wrapped.
