Crowds of protesters in the Australian city of Melbourne smashed a police line and assaulted security personnel during “Freedom Rally” protests against the new pandemic lockdown.
Ten officers were injured, six were hospitalized, and 235 protesters were arrested after crowds swept through police lines near the Richmond area, it said. The British newspaper “independent” reported,.
Dozens of protesters lined up and started pushing the police, knocking them to the ground and trampling on them, as the video footage shows.
Officers sprayed pepper spray on the crowd in an attempt to ward off them, and in the moments before the attack, pacifists appealed to the crowd for calm.
