MMA News reported earlier this month that Alex Pereira who is one of the best strikers in martial arts had agreed with the UFC on the negotiations and was expected to sign the contract after his match in kickboxing against Artem Vakhitov at Glory 78 on September 4th.
“Poatan” Pereira unfortunately lost the match via majority decision but it did not affect the signing of the contract and he is now ready for his debut in the UFC!
On Wednesday, he went out on social media and posted a video where he signs the contract and sends a greeting to all fans and the organization.
“Hello everyone, now it’s official,” said Pereira. Many thanks to the UFC! I’m so happy to be a part of this family.
Alex Pereira gets to meet Andreas Michailidis in his debut!
Pereira did not go out with himself with whom he will debut against. However, reporters from MMA Junkie were able to confirm with sources who have knowledge of the match that it will be against Andreas Michailidis at UFC 268 on November 6th. This will be Pereira’s fifth appearance in MMA and he has a total match result of three wins and one loss. Michailidis is 1-1 in the UFC with a total match result of 13-4.
The last time we saw Pereira compete in the cage was in his return to MMA in 2020 after being away from the sport for four years. His return to MMA was very successful and he finished Thomas Powell in the first round via a spectacular knockout at LFA 95 in November.
“Poatan” is a champion in kickboxing and he has a total match result in kickboxing of 33 wins and 7 losses. 21 of the wins come via KO according to Glory Kickboxing and 2 of the wins are over the current UFC champion in middleweight Israel Adesanya.
Do you think we will see Pereira vs. Are you in the UFC?
