Islamic activist Khaled al-Juhani said that the cybercrime law approved by the Senate and Parliament will lead the country to a social explosion if applied in its current form.



He added to the Nabd Al-Balad program, which is broadcast on the “Vision” screen, that the law came with a national disagreement and disregarded all opinions expressed by trade unions and civil society institutions. He stressed that the government hid the draft law from the Jordanian street and parliament and “stolen” the law behind closed doors.

He pointed out that all acts criminalized by the new law are criminalized in the Penal Code, Publications, Publications and Publishing, and there is nothing new in it.

For his part, the writer and political analyst Omar Kallab explained that the law was discussed and presented by the government to the relevant institutions through a national dialogue, wondering who authorized him to speak on behalf of the Jordanian people?

He pointed out that with the cybercrime law, which limits the rampage, insults and abuses that occur through these platforms, indicating that it will restore consideration for political and intellectual dialogue and the healthy difference between the Jordanian people.

Kallab called on those who oppose the law to present a coherent point of view, and to convince the street that the law limits freedom of opinion and expression.

He supported harsher penalties stipulated in the articles of the law, because political guidance was absent from social media, as he put it.

This came after the Senate approved, on Sunday, the House of Representatives’ decision approving the draft cybercrime law, as amended by the Senate.
