Al Ahly approaches Real Madrid

Real Madrid has already cleared up one of the first unknowns about which rival they will face on Wednesday in the Club World Cup semifinals. Will the Seattle Sounders (Concacaf champion) o Al Ahly, the Egyptian champion and current runner-up in Africa, who defeated Auckland City yesterday in Tangier with a relaxed 3-0.

In front of 47,137 spectators, most obviously supporting the Arab team, The New Zealanders, led by the Spanish Albert Riera and all of them amateurs, resisted vigorously for 47 minutes, until the last play of the first part. There Hussein El Shahat’s goal brought down the framework of the modest oceanic champion. Mohamed Sherif practically put the finishing touch on minute 56, with South African Percy Tau’s final goal completing an excessive penalty.

The game ended in the ugliest way possible for the Kiwis, with the red card (after a minute and a half passed by Chinese Ma Ning’s VAR) for center-back Adam Mitchell. The pharaohs of Al Ahly, one step closer to the jackpot, Madrid.
