“A lot of experience”: Filipovski takes over in Würzburg

Saso Filipovski is the new coach of the ailing Bundesliga basketball team s.Oliver Würzburg. The experienced Slovenian follows Dennis Wucherer at the club that is threatened with relegation.

The former coach was fired on Monday. Filipovski (47 years old) will make his debut on December 27th against BG Göttingen, until then assistant coach Steven Key will lead the team.

Filipovski started his coaching career at the age of 24 in his home country Slovenia: At Union Olimpija Ljubljana he was an assistant coach and head coach in a dozen championships and cup wins from 1998 to 2006. His other positions took him to the top leagues in Poland, Russia, Italy, France, Turkey and Serbia – most recently he was head coach at the traditional Serbian club Partizan Belgrade.
