55,000 women were examined at the Maternal and Fetal Health Initiative in Dakahlia

Dr. Saad Makki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Dakahlia, announced in statements to him today, Saturday, that about 55 thousand women have been examined since the launch of the Maternal and Fetal Health Initiative, which is one of the initiatives of 100 million health under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the directives of Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health.

The Undersecretary added that the initiative aims to early detection of one of three serious infections that are transmitted to the fetus and cause serious symptoms, which are hepatitis B, HIV and syphilis, in addition to reducing maternal deaths resulting from these diseases.

The Undersecretary indicated that the initiative includes a “clinical examination” to assess the general condition of pregnant women over the age of 18 years and the condition of the fetus and to discover risk factors that may accompany pregnancy according to the protocol applied from maternal and child care to follow-up pregnant women through a trained medical team while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of data.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry stated that the service is provided through 350 units and a family medicine center in the governorate, calling on all pregnant women to go to the units concerned with the initiative to check on their health and protect the fetus, adding that if the mother is confirmed injured, the referral is made directly to the hospital designated to receive the necessary treatment protocol.
