37.5 million euros paid to communities since January

The Gironde benefited in particular from 58,000 euros to develop an SMS system to contact residents far from digital

The “digital transformation” projects of local authorities, endowed in January with a budget of 88 million euros as part of the recovery plan, have been funded to the tune of 37.5 million since the beginning of the year, a the government announced on Friday.

“Nine months after the establishment of this fund, nearly 40 million euros have already been allocated to projects across France,” said the Ministry of Civil Service Transformation in a press release.

The call for projects was structured along three axes: the first is dedicated to the development of digital tools common to all communities, the second to projects at the scale of a metropolis, a region or a department. and the last to support local projects.

Around 50% of the envelope planned for the first two axes has been spent, while only 9.7 million euros have so far been allocated out of the 34 million earmarked for the third axis.

The branch dedicated to local projects, on the other hand, has the largest number of winning projects, with more than 500 distinguished initiatives, compared to 44 (first axis) and 75 (second axis) respectively funded projects.

SMS system in Gironde

Among the winners, the Gironde will, for example, receive 58,000 euros to develop an SMS system making it possible in particular to contact residents of the department who are far from digital.

Another winner, the Center-Val-de-Loire will receive a budget of 200,000 euros to set up an “essential digital offer” for small communities in the region, so as to “distribute everyday tools”.

The Minister of Transformation and Public Service, Amélie de Montchalin, announced in January the release of 88 million euros out of the 500 allocated to the ministry as part of the recovery plan.

Objective stated: “to facilitate local administrative procedures and facilitate the exercise of the missions of agents of local authorities and elected officials on a daily basis”.
