3:2 at Freiburg II: Strong 2nd half lets 1. FC Magdeburg cheer – 3rd league

1. FC Magdeburg will continue in 2022 where it left off last year. In the Bundesliga reserve of SC Freiburg there is a 3: 2 (1: 1) in front of 500 spectators. It’s already the 15th win of the season!

At the start of the year, however, FCM surprisingly had problems imposing their typically powerful game on Freiburg in the first half. Instead, the third division leaders are under pressure against brave Breisgau boys – but still take the lead!

20 minutes: After a one-two with Tobias Müller, Jason Ceka dribbles past four opponents and boldly fires into the short corner. The 1-0 out of nowhere, but without really shocking Freiburg. Because they keep kicking.

With success! Referee Patrick Hanslbauer was right to whistle off Claudio Kammerknecht’s goal after a foul on Luca Schuler (26′). But six minutes later, Mika Baur’s goal really counts!

Historical: The 1:1 is not only his first goal in his first professional game, the son of handball world champion Markus Baur is also the youngest third division goalscorer of all time at the age of 17 years, six months and ten days!

After FCM changed sides with more possession, Freiburg pushed deep into their own half and took the lead again after a one-on-one action.

70 minutes: Raphael Obermair dribbles his way into the penalty area from the right and just keeps trying – 2:1! The first goal of the season for Magdeburg’s all-purpose weapon, which warned before kick-off: “We mustn’t take any less steps.”

And the FCM does not do that afterwards either. Instead, Amara Condé made the preliminary decision, increasing it to 3: 1 only five minutes later (75th).

Freiburg managed to catch up in injury time through Lars Kehl, but nothing more. Magdeburg are brutally efficient, increasing their lead over their pursuers to eleven (!) points.
