2894 new infections in Switzerland

Coronavirus – Switzerland – In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, 2894 new coronavirus infections were reported to the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) within 24 hours on Friday. At the same time, the BAG registered 11 new deaths and 98 hospital admissions.

On Friday a week ago, the BAG 3121 new infections, 45 hospital admissions and three new deaths were reported.

For every 100,000 inhabitants, 416 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections were reported in the past two weeks. The reproduction number R, which indicates the average number of people infected by an infected person, was 1.06 around ten days ago.

The utilization of the intensive care units in the hospitals is currently 79.5 percent. 32.9 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid 19 patients.

52.57 percent of that part of the population for whom the vaccination is approved are already fully vaccinated. So far, 5,753,486 certificates have been issued for fully vaccinated people.

In the past 24 hours, 37,680 new corona tests were reported to the BAG. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 10,103,448 tests for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, have been carried out in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as the BAG further announced. There were a total of 808,050 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with the coronavirus.

So far, 31,852 people have had to be treated in hospital for a Covid 19 disease. The number of deaths related to Covid 19 disease was 10,577.

According to the BAG, 20,244 people were in isolation and 22,077 people were in quarantine due to the contact tracing.
