Elisabeth, Marinel, Jamie or even Sixitine are between 12 and 24 years old, live in Kenya, Indonesia, the United States, France and all lead the same fight: to raise awareness and act against global warming on their own scale. These young activists are at the heart of “Generation Greta”, the flagship documentary of the 16e Green Film Festival which starts this Saturday in several screening locations in Switzerland and neighboring France.
“The selection committee wanted, through this film, to pay tribute to this movement. It is not only Greta Thunberg who is mobilizing, but also many young women around the world. They are not known but prove that everyone can advance the cause through concrete actions, explains Nicolas Guignard, director of the event. It is inspiring and it will perhaps also allow our older public to better understand the motivations of these activists whose actions go far beyond the mobilizations observed in our cities. ”
“Generation Greta”, like the sixty films selected by a large number of volunteers who make up the committee, all have in common a desire to open the debate and seek solutions in terms of ecology, the environment or more broadly. of nature. “Today, people know the issues. The big question remains: what can you change in your daily life without necessarily reducing your quality of life? ” Several documentaries respond to or denounce the current systems, like “Fast fashion” which testifies to the inglorious underwear of low-cost fashion, the director’s favorite film.
