2021 – Star Wars: The 10 funniest quotes from Revenge of the Sith

With its dazzling action sequences, fast-paced storytelling and the focus on Anakin Skywalker’s transformation into Darth Vader, Revenge of the Sith is often considered the greatest of the war of stars Precursor. The critical panned Follow I. and II not exactly a high bar, but fans and critics were impressed Episode III almost as much as the revered original trilogy.

Although it is generally darker than the previous prequel films, Revenge of the Sith has some of the funniest moments in the trilogy – largely thanks to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

10 “Don’t worry, we’re still flying half a ship.” – Obi Wan Kenobi

The opening set piece by Revenge of the Sith culminates in the Separatist mothership crashing onto the surface of Coruscant. General Grievous and his cronies have all left the ship, so it’s up to Anakin and Obi-Wan to safely crash the ship and ensure the survival of Chancellor Palpatine, the supposed diplomatic leader of the galaxy.

When the ship breaks in half, Obi-Wan just jokes about it instead of panicking. The fact that Obi-Wan keeps his dry wit even in the face of certain doom says a lot about his character.

9 “This is where the fun begins.” – Anakin Skywalker

As Anakin and Obi-Wan move into the opening space battle Revenge of the Sith‘Obi-Wan is suspicious of the Separatist fleet they are about to face, but Anakin is in a much better mood about the situation.

Most battle-hardened veterans venturing into their umpteenth war zone wouldn’t be as enthusiastic as Anakin, but his joke about the “fun” of warfare ironically hints at his moral downfall, which is central to the rest of the film.

8 “UNLIMITED POWER !!!” – Chancellor Palpatine

In Revenge of the Sith, the veil of the dark side is finally falling and the apparently friendly politician Chancellor Palpatine turns out to be the alter ego of Darth Sidious, the Sith puppeteer behind the fall of the republic.

Despite the fact that his Sidious personality is so ominous, Palpatine has plenty of goofy moments in Episode IIIlike falling over his desk during his fight with Yoda. As he maximizes his Force Lightning skills to kill Mace Windu, he absurdly yells “UNLIMITED FORCE !!!”

7 “So uncivilized.” – Obi Wan Kenobi

When Ben Kenobi gave Luke Skywalker his father’s original lightsaber from 1977 war of stars In film he calls it “an elegant weapon for a more civilized age”. In Revenge of the SithFans learned that Obi-Wan didn’t just prefer lightsabers to blasters; he does not use blasters at all.

Obi-Wan thinks blasters are ugly, messy weapons that lack the precision of a lightsaber. After his culmination battle with General Grievous, he has no choice but to kill him with a blaster, throws the gun aside, and comments that it is “uncivilized”.

6 “NOOOOOOO!!!” – Darth Vader

This line is not from a comedic moment in the film. It’s when Anakin wakes up in the Vader suit, realizes he’s wrapped in a great metaphor for his own corruption, and to top it off, learns from his new master that Padmé is dead. And then he utters a ridiculous “NOOOOOOO !!!”.

It comes off unintentionally weird. The visual signifiers of Vader’s anger all land wonderfully: violently crushing all medical equipment, breaking free from its bonds, etc. He didn’t have to verbalize it, especially in such a silly, melodramatic way.

5 “Double pride, double case.” – Count Dooku

When Anakin and Obi-Wan first faced Count Dooku in Attack of the clones, They were given their butts in a lightsaber fight. Anakin eventually lost an arm. The opening scene of Revenge of the Sith sees a rematch between the two Jedi Knights and Palpatine’s short-lived Sith apprentice.

Anakin warns Dooku, “My strength has doubled since the last fight,” but Dooku jokes that Anakin’s increasing confidence in his abilities only means that his inevitable defeat will sting even more.

4 “Your new empire !?” – Obi Wan Kenobi

When Obi-Wan confronts Anakin on Mustafar, his fallen apprentice tells him, “I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire.” A stunned Obi-Wan repeats the last words of Anakin’s bold statement: “Your new empire !?”

Obi-Wan’s incredulous response sums up the ridiculous leap Anakin made with an iron fist from denial of mastery to taking over and ruling the galaxy.

3 “We are in a certain situation.” – Anakin Skywalker

After Obi-Wan is incapacitated by Count Dooku, Anakin tosses his Master’s unconscious body over his shoulder as he and Palpatine flee. When Obi-Wan regains consciousness, he, Anakin, and Palpatine are all hanging in the middle of a very high elevator shaft.

Obi-Wan is horrified to wake up, orientate himself, look down and see a seemingly bottomless pit below. Anakin tells him that they are in “a small situation” and that they are massively undercutting the life-threatening terror of their crisis.

2 “I am the Senate!” – Chancellor Palpatine

When Mace Windu and his Jedi forces confront Palpatine in his office to arrest him, they tell him, “The Senate will decide your fate.” Palpatine snaps back: “I AM THE SENATE!”

What he means by this is that he has the political power to influence the Senate’s biggest decisions, but Windu jokes that his plan hasn’t quite worked out yet: “Not yet.”

1 “Hello.” – Obi Wan Kenobi

When Obi-Wan arrives on Utapau to confront General Grievous and learns where he is hiding, he goes straight to Grievous’ level, jumps off the rafters and, surrounded by armed droids, jokes, “Hello there.” This is a fairly casual way of approaching a deadly confrontation with a Jedi-killing robot and its cybernetic foot soldiers.

That line, along with Grievous’ answer – “General Kenobi, you are a brave one!” – is considered to be one of the most memorable moments in the entire prequel trilogy (and there are many of them).
