The stealth appearance of the Korean fighter KF-X, which is scheduled to go on its first flight in July next year, has been unveiled.

Currently, it is a 4.5 generation fighter, but it is planned to evolve into a 5th generation fighter by improving its performance in accordance with technological advances.

Reporter Lee Seung-yoon on the report.

The Korean-style fighter KF-X, manufactured in Korea since 2015, is proud of its dignity.

It has a wing width of 11.2m and a length of 16.9m, which is larger than the F-16, and has a stealth shape similar to the size of the F-18.

Some weapons and engines were introduced from overseas and the localization rate converted to parts cost is 65%, but the government plans to increase the localization rate further.

The government’s explanation is that an abnormal current is being detected on the joint development front with Indonesia, which has decided to pay 20% of the project cost, but there are alternatives in place.

KF-X is a project to use Korean fighter jets as new base power, replacing old F-4 and F-5 fighters with an investment of 8 trillion won.

In consideration of technological advancement, it is characterized by’evolving’ the performance of fighter jets with the latest technology by dividing the initial development until 2026 and the secondary development until 2028.

In particular, the mooring test building called’Iron Bird’, which the US company refused to transfer technology to, was implemented by the development team self-taught so that the load received by the fighter during flight was improved to increase stability.

The KFX, a Korean fighter, will be released in April, and will fly into the sky for the first time through its initial flight in July next year.
