The apartment has a total of 964 households, and construction began in May 2021. It was scheduled for completion in October of this year, and the current completion rate is 67%. Previously, in a new apartment building in Geomdan New Town, water flooded the kitchen and living room, and was suspected of poor construction.

A media outlet claimed that so-called ‘remicon water riding’ is prevalent at new apartment construction sites in Geomdan New City, Incheon. The higher the viscosity of the ready-mixed concrete, the more difficult it is to work with, and it takes a long time, so it is diluted with water.

An official in the construction industry explained that because apartments are built excessively according to the process, winter curing is often not done properly, which can lead to poor construction.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong visited the site of the collapse of an apartment parking lot in Geomdan New Town, Incheon today and ordered the construction to be stopped.

Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok ordered a full-scale investigation of all GS E&C workplaces in Incheon that day.

Minister Won said, “It is deeply regrettable that an accident similar to the backward construction accident that occurred in Gwangju in January of last year has occurred again.” This kind of accident occurred in the location where I was trying to enter, and I even feel dizzy.”
