During a vehicle inspection as part of the intensified veil search, the federal police confiscated around 30,000 euros in cash. The woman at the age of 31 is now being investigated on suspicion of money laundering.

The 31-year-old Romanian national was checked by the federal police on Friday (September 3rd, 2021) as part of the intensified veil manhunt on the A5 near Freiburg im Breisgau. She and her companion had recently entered Germany from Switzerland. When asked, the 31-year-old admitted that she had imported over 28,000 Swiss francs and just under 3,000 euros from Switzerland. There was no registration with the German customs authorities. The woman was handed over to employees at German customs. Since sums of money over 10,000 euros must be reported to German customs when crossing the border, a fine procedure was initiated against the woman and a security deposit of 7250 euros was levied.
